The goal was to transport cargo from the port of Shanghai (China) to the Kursk region (Russia) in a short time.
Cargo – decanter centrifuge complete with electrical cabinet (2 pieces with a total weight of 3,925 kg)
Transportation method: sea freight in a container to the port of Novorossiysk, then by trucks to the destination
Initially, the task was set to deliver the cargo as quickly as possible. Considering the difficulties in the logistics market at that time in the world, long delays in the delivery of goods mainly from China, none of the methods guaranteed fast delivery without delays. Of several delivery options, the route through the port of Novorossiysk in a 20-foot sea container was chosen (options of direct rail transportation through the Vorsino station in the Kaluga region, and multimodal transportation through the ports of Vladivostok/Nakhodka with further rail/truck delivery to the destination were also considered).
As a result, the cargo was sent on 20 January 2022, and arrived even ahead of schedule, in early March, although the ETA was originally scheduled for March 10.
During the transportation, hostilities began in Ukraine, and the container line delivering the cargo first introduced restrictions on delivery to Russian ports, and then a decision to leave the Russian market. This (the first circumstance) occurred at the moment the cargo left the transshipment port (Port Said, Egypt). These circumstances provoked a wait for the container ship for about a week on the approach to the Bosporus Strait in Turkey.
However, the cargo was delivered to the port of destination, where customs clearance was carried out and the goods were released within one hour, after which the decanter centrifuge was delivered to the distillery before its due time, and accordingly, it was put into installation and production ahead of schedule .
An additional difficulty during the transportation was that several banks came upon under sanctions, and the currency of settlements with the shipper was the US dollar. The payment amount was returned to the payer by the correspondent bank, and we, in turn, had to urgently open an account in Chinese yuan and make mutual settlements in the specified currency. We managed to do everything, and now we can provide transport services and the supply of goods from China, using mutual settlements in Chinese yuan, quickly, efficiently and without additional commissions.
